On Thursday, April 9th, a ceremony was held to mark Vimy Day, honouring the bravery of Canadian soldiers who, on April 9, 1917, stormed Vimy Ridge in France, capturing ground that had been under German occupation. This pivotal battle of the First World War resulted in the ultimate sacrifice of over 3,500 Canadian lives and injuries to nearly 7,000 others, cementing its place as a defining moment in history.
